Job Description Summary

Works with various Bank stakeholders and senior leaders to develop and strengthen Strategic Sourcing Programs and execute program requirements utilizing a proactive planning and engagement approach to support broader Bank strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Develop, refine, implement and lead the Bank’s:

  2. Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) & Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Third Party programs; and,

  3. Strategic Third Party Provider (TPP) Program

  4. Supplier CSR and DEI Program

  5. Evaluate and challenge current TPP engagements to include diverse participant-respondents.

  6. Review spend data, reports and research generally available information to proactively identify incremental opportunities to improve the Bank’s strategic management of TPPs and expand its use of diverse TPPs and reinforce its commitment to conduct socially responsible business activities.

  7. Identify operational measures the Bank can take with its TPPs to enhance its performance and support its strategic initiatives and commitments related to CSR & DE&I excellence.

  8. Assist/lead in development of baseline actionable metrics and ongoing reports to senior management regarding progress of TPP programs related.

  9. Proactively engage with TPPs to:

  10. Promote opportunities for them to compete for Bank business;

  11. Assist them in becoming a certified diverse supplier;

  12. Identify resources to support growth and maturity of both the CSR and DE&I programs;

  13. Provide subject matter expertise in refinement of CSR/DE&I related sourcing objectives, policies, procedures, tools, templates (RFP, Contracts, marketing materials, etc.);

  14. Represents Bank of the West at industry and other outreach events to support TPP CSR and Diversity opportunity growth;

  15. Stays abreast of regulatory changes, trends and information concerning the Bank’s use of TPP, as well as supplier diversity and corporate social responsibility and leads applicable Bank responses or actions.

  16. Engage the Bank’s Senior Management to support adoption of the Program’s maturity efforts.

  17. Strategic TPP Program

  18. Work with various Bank stakeholders & analyze information & data from multiple internal and external sources to develop and proposed strategies to effectively manage the Bank’s most impactful, strategic TPPs.

  19. Analyze and aggregate information and data to establish a comprehensive, actionable view of strategic TPPs that can support and inform broader Bank strategies.

  20. Manage virtual stakeholder teams to proactively execute against agreed TPP and category strategies.

  21. Provider subject matter expertise to drive execution of near term TPP engagements commensurate with longer-term TPP strategies.

  22. Analyze programs’ effectiveness against stated goals and industry benchmarks.

Qualifications

Skills:

  1. Significant knowledge and experience in sourcing of products and services, including bidding processes, contractual negotiations, and purchasing

  2. Proven ability managing supplier contracts and partnerships

  3. Exhibits project management traits

  4. Ability to work within a complex organization and act as a dynamic change agent

  5. Ability to perform in a fast-pace environment requiring high-quality of work in a variety of areas and interactions with all levels of leadership and staff within the organization

  6. Knowledge of and ability to interpret contractual terms

  7. Ability to develop and execute intermediate negotiating strategies

  8. Ability to develop and execute strategic plans to mature the Supplier Diversity and Corp Social Responsibility program

  9. Demonstrates personnel skills and ability to build relationships

  10. Intermediate research and analytics

  11. Ability to negotiate strategic relationships

Experience :

7-10 years of experience directly related to Sourcing and/or Purchasing Contract Negotiations, with a minimum of 3 years Program Management and/or Supplier Diversity and/or Sustainability experience.

Education :

Bachelor’s Degree required. Preference for major in Supply Chain, Finance or Sustainability. MBA preferred.
