JobDescription Summary
Responsible for managing the Financial
Reporting function, which focuses on the Bank's Call report and other mandatory
regulatory reports, as well as any related ad-hoc requests for our regulators.
In addition to; responsible for the completion of the associated regulatory
reports for the BancWest (the Holding Company). Also responsible for the
creation and maintenance of the necessary control infrastructure. Will manage a
team of staff handling the current production process as well as a team focused
on creating a scalable, repeatable automated process for regulatory reports. In
addition, the role will be responsible for ensuring an awareness of proposed
legislation / regulatory rules and their potential impact to the Bank's
regulatory reporting processes.
Essential JobFunctions
Manages all activities related to the State and Federal regulatoryreporting for the Bank and Holding Company (including Call Report, FR reports,etc.). Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of all required reporting.
Maintain and execute plan to leverage the Bank's financetechnology infrastructure to automate materially the production over itsregulatory reports. Ensure alignment of these requirements with complementaryorganizational reporting processes.
Partner with Bank of the West Finance leadership team to meet allreporting objectives in an effective and efficient manner.
Review (and remediate gaps, as necessary) the controlinfrastructure associated with the regulatory reporting production process.Ensure controls impact for all changes are understood and accounted for priorto completion. Partner with stakeholders "upstream" of the processand the Corporate Internal Controls team to ensure appropriate controls are inplace for inputs to the regulatory reports.
Acquire, develop, motivate and retain top talent, providing a highlevel of mentorship that creates a world-class environment that stimulatesproblem-solving and identifies and develops improved business practices.
Collaborate with Bank of the West finance and operationalpersonnel across the organization to promote and strengthen the company-wideRegulatory Reporting function, through a focus on people, process andperformance.
Develop and deliver bank-wide training program focused on raisingthe level of organizational understanding of regulatory reporting requirement.Assess stakeholder understanding of responsibilities and partner with them toaddress any identified gaps.
Ensure ability of regulatory results to reconcile to otherreported values (including GAAP-focused reporting outputs). Other JobDuties
Liaise with the department, business units, Finance Technologyteam and Corporate IT on an ongoing basis for project and ongoingresponsibilities
Oversee ad-hoc projects, as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
RequiredExperience
Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the executionof processes, projects and tactics within one area.
Typically has advanced knowledge and skills within a specifictechnical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of workon other areas of the organization.
Requires 7-10 years minimum prior relevant experience.
Education
Bachelor's Degree Finance or related field.
Certified Public Accountant preferred
Skills
Good knowledge of Accounting and Finance function within financialservices industry, including unique requirements for both Corporate andBusiness Line stakeholders.
Strong Internal Controls Background (SOX) in a FinancialInstitution.
Strong experience in assessing an organization, developing andexecuting on a road map to improve processes/outcomes.
Strong team building/development skills.
Demonstrated ability to identify, motivate and retain talentedemployees.
Working knowledge of Bank Regulatory Reporting Requirements.
Good working knowledge of Basel II standards and concepts(including Market, Credit, and Operational Risk) is desirable.
Preferred prior experience managing complex implementationprojects.
Must have solid organizational skills, with the ability to handlemultiple competing priorities in a multi-tasking environment and meet deadlineswith quality results.
Exposure to relevant technologies used within the Finance /Accounting space (Hyperion, GL systems, loan / investment sub-ledgers, datawarehouse / marts, etc.).
