Job Description Summary
Responsible for providing quality and consistent Appraisal Review of collateral related to real estate secured loans and/or lines of credit, focusing on difficult/complex appraisal products, to ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory and company standards. Responsible for ascertaining the needs for obtaining an acceptable appraisal and assisting the Production Appraisal Reviewers in obtaining, and understanding, those needs, as it relates to FNMA or portfolio guidelines. Also partner with LOD1 Appraisal Risk Management to assesses any potential risks related to the appraisals, to ensures that real estate secured appraisals are complete, accurate, and fall within acceptable regulatory and BOW guidelines. Provides high quality customer service, including reviewing escalated appraisals in a competitive time frame. Provides direction and guidance to other less experienced review appraisers.
Essential Job Functions
Work with Chief Residential Appraiser on file flow, and proactively assures timely completion of the team pipeline as needed. May act as second in command in supervisor’s absence
Act as an escalation contact for team and mentor and coach as needed
Proficiency with Fannie Mae's Collateral Underwriter Tool, and other online sources, to determine appraisal acceptability for sale to Agency, if applicable
Reviews appraisals, both in daily production, and in escalation status, through a process of analyzing and evaluating acceptability, while maintaining designated time frames as determined by management
Gathers information in order to solve appraisal problems and make decisions through phone contact to LOD1 Appraisal Risk Management, FNMA, Underwriters UW Team Lead/Supervisory level partners
Responsible for processing Appraisal Challenges by borrowers, processing Internal Refinance Valuation products, and determining if a 2nd appraisal is required on a given property
Be able to lead Team meetings related to explaining new regulations, requirements, or workflow steps related to appraisal review
Assist Chief Residential Appraiser as appropriate
Requires a minimum of 5-7 years prior relevant experience.
Requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- 3 - 5 yrs Corp. Appraisal Review and/or Mortgage Lending Industry
Licenses & Certifications
- Certified Professional State Certified Appraisal License Upon Hire
Complete knowledge of Appraisal Review and a working-level knowledge of underwriting.
Complete knowledge of FNMA, State, Federal and portfolio lending practices related to the collateral.
Knowledge of Bank’s lending policies and procedures.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with staff members and departmental representatives.
Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to mentor and lead while maintaining individual workload.
