Job Description Summary

The Sales Development Manager (SDM) is responsible for planning, developing and executing national sales and service initiatives within their respective markets. This position reports to the Retail Sales Development Manager within the Branch Productivity team and works closely with the branch leadership teams in their assigned region. The SDO implements sales initiatives, monitors sales results, provides tools for sales activities, and deploys sales training in their region. The SDO will be a resource for Regional and Branch Management in all aspects of sales and the sales management process. This position will require travel within their delineated area.

Essential Job Functions

  • Works closely with up to 50 retail branches as assigned. Work with Division, Region, Area and Branch management to achieve their sales goals through sales initiatives and championing the Customer Experience Strategy.

  • Develop and implement sales tools and job aids to assist the sales process.

  • Communicate and monitor the sales management process and client experience process ensuring that best practices are being utilized.

  • Provide sales training and coaching for their Regional and Branch managers as needed.

  • Communicate and monitor the sales management process and client experience process ensuring that best practices are being utilized.

  • Provide a resource to Regional and Branch Management in obtaining sales lists via our MCIF system.

Other Job Duties

  • Plan and implement the sales function and monitor results in market specific campaigns.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Experience

  • Requires deep knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

  • Typically viewed as a specialist within discipline.

  • May have broad knowledge of project management.

  • Requires 7 years minimum prior relevant experience.


  • Typically responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.

  • Thorough knowledge of all sales related activities from planning to implementation.

  • Ability to communicate and train the sales management process.

  • Typically responsible for managing major/complex projects involving delegation of work and review of work products.

  • Responsible for making moderate to significant improvements to processes, systems or products to enhance performance of job area.

  • Demonstrated sales management skills.

  • Ability to coordinate events and meetings.
