Purpose Statement:

Responsible for the overall design, implementation and maintenance of the Business Intelligence (BI) infrastructure in the Group. Work directly with business users and management to understand the needs, develop and deliver business intelligence solutions to satisfy business goals and strategic direction of the organization. Position supports customer relationship and sales production metrics and KPIs, as well as Data Governance activities.

Job Functions:

  • Responsible for the overall design, implementation and maintenance of the BI Infrastructure in coordination with best practices and infrastructure standards.

  • Work with source system users to develop processes and procedures for entering information into the Business Intelligence Datamart and ensure reliability of information entered.

  • Develop BI metadata and models for standard, adhoc reporting, analysis and management dashboards.

  • Participate in user requirement gathering, leading the prototype for all BI initiatives.

  • Lead the internal review process of reports, adhoc queries built by business users and identify duplicate calculations, filters etc. that can be built in the datamart.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation for datamart and BI platform.

  • Assist report designers in report development, testing, production and maintenance.

  • Identifies data analytics opportunities, designs, and leads in executing reports in a way to successfully meet the established deadlines.

  • Provides guidance in constructing data metrics, statistics, and analyses.

  • Identify re-engineering opportunities through research and analysis of business and system process inefficiencies to ensure the company maintains a competitive advantage with information.

  • Understand existing BI/Analytics related products within Bank of the West and research technology opportunities and industry trends in order to advise internal clients on the applicability and utilization of technology.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Requires highest knowledge and mastery of multiple job areas typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

  • Viewed as the leading expert and/or resource within the field by peers within and outside the organization.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree

Skills

  • Excellent management and control of work flows to produce deliverables within required timeframes and quality standards.

  • Excellent knowledge of project management and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Understanding of style guides and editorial process.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good inter-personal and partnering skills to facilitate effective working relationships.

  • Strong understanding of financial industry, risk management, and/or corporate security.

  • Keen eye for design and understanding of layout flows and infographics.

  • Ability to adjust to rapidly changing security environment and prioritize deliverables.

  • Ability to condense information and transform technical data into easily understandable concepts.

  • Strong leadership skills.
