Job Description Summary

Responsible for assisting the preparation of income tax compliance and tax accounting with the supporting work papers, the ability to do tax research and able to prepare written technical memos and emails. Assist with tax audits and controversies. In addition, provide support to outside consultants, auditors, and business units, as needed. Assist in handling payments, CCAR and SOX processes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist in preparation of Federal consolidated and State combined and separate returns (including preparation of work papers and supporting documents).

  • Assist in preparation of monthly tax provision, year-end tax footnote and supporting work papers. Assist with the shareholder quarterly reporting package.

  • Prepare Federal, Combined, and Separate quarterly tax estimates and extensions (including work papers, intercompany journal entries, and EFT transmissions).

  • Assist in the preparation of book/tax differences including fixed asset tax depreciation.

  • Assist in the preparation of information document requests, defense of audits/controversy, and response to notices from tax authorities.

  • Assists with Sarbanes Oxley 404 compliance and CCAR reporting.

  • Provides client service and some tax planning.

  • Provide support in calculating and recording indirect tax accrual.

  • Performs tax accounting for tax accrual accounts and periodic reconciliations. May interact directly with external and internal auditors to provide information as necessary.

  • Perform tax research. Have the ability to write research memos and compile support for such.

  • Maintains other appropriate tax records.

  • Other special projects and assignments, as required.


Required Experience

  • Requires deep knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

  • Typically viewed as a specialist within discipline.

  • May have broad knowledge of project management.

  • Requires 5 - 7 years minimum prior relevant experience.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting


  • Good working knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws.

  • Good working knowledge with accounting for income taxes and related accounting rules

  • Prior experience with the tax return process including the preparation of tax work papers and general familiarity with tax compliance software

  • Prior experience with ASC 740 (FAS 109/FIN 48) tax provisions

  • Strong desire to learn and grow in tax field.

  • Strong Excel skills.

  • Excellent written and oral skills

  • Review skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
