Job Description Summary

Responsible for specialized processes that have high visibility and require a higher degree of knowledge and skill set. Processes include severance, leaves, incentive plans, bonus plans, deferred comp plans and any other special requests. Process all Payroll transactions for Trinity and Essex Companies. Process all pay data files that interface into Payroll for payments. Responsible for running the payrolls, according to schedule and processing the General Ledger ticket, wires and DDA credit from the Payroll results. Acts as a subject matter expert within Payroll.

Essential Job Functions

  • Process all leaves, severance, incentive, bonus, deferred comp and special payment requests. Process all Trinity, Essex and cost center 351 Payroll.

  • Run all payrolls according to schedule and process all General Ledger wires, and DDA credits from the Payroll schedule. This process is performed at least 4 times per month and for 3 separate companies.

  • Respond to internal as well as external questions regarding payroll. This also includes how to process within the system.

  • Process all data files received for internal as well as external business partners. Ensure all data is accurate and is corrected prior to the payroll run.

  • Provide training and guidance as needed to employees.

  • Assist in performing monthly certifications.

  • Act as a subject matter expert to all in Payroll.

Required Experience

  • Requires practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

  • Requires 3 years minimum prior relevant experience.


  • Bachelor's Degree


  • In depth knowledge and understanding of Payroll processing, Payroll laws and Bank of the West pay practices and policies.

  • Working with a complex General Ledger system.

  • General accounting principles.

  • Solid understanding of General Ledger.

  • Customer service skills.

  • Strong written communication skills.

  • Organization skills.

  • Ability to prioritize work.

  • Time management skills.
