Job Description Summary
As a Senior Lead Database Security and Data Governance Administrator you will working with the Engineering and Operation teams to primarily focus on securing databases and their multifarious interfaces against unauthorized access. This position is expected to be a point of contact for database risk, audit and compliance evaluation and reporting. It will include performing routine database security policy reviews, best practices of protecting data, and identify and report potential risks. Responsible for briefing department heads and employees on current or emerging information security threats, help create security and governance policies, enforce and verify for databases. Partner with cybersecurity and GRC heads for ensuring robust control mechanism and remediation for ongoing mitigation measures. Recommend architectural changes, upgrades, patches, and other modifications required to keep the databases (Oracle/SQL server/Big Data) up-to-date to guard against sophisticated cyber-attacks. You will work closely with development and infrastructure teams in maintaining a reliable environment around systems hardware and operating systems server software.
Understand BOTW risk governance and compliance standards and translate them into actionable database security management requirement.
Initiate, develop, maintain new or existing standards, procedures and guidelines for the general database operation and its’ related activities.
Conduct regular assessments to identify databases at risk and provide strategic thought leadership on how to implement technologies and processes to aid in database protection
Review data security matters for operational DBA duties which will include installation, database upgrades, patching, environment cloning, implementing backup/recovery and monitoring procedures, capacity planning and site failover/switchover.
Interface with clients, network, hardware and system operations teams to resolve data security problems with application/database systems in a timely manner.
Follow change management process and participate in related meetings.
Create and maintain database/application architecture and standards following Databases (Oracle/SQL Server/Big Data) Best security practices for physical structures, logical databases, user management.
Act as a database project leader for critical, time driven, visible projects.
Integrate/collaborate with application development and support teams on various IT projects' database security matters.
Provide thought leadership and assist in setting strategic direction for Database, infrastructure and technology
Coach others and encourage ownership of security maturity.
10 years of experience securing medium- to large-scale mission-critical enterprise databases (Oracle/SQL Server) in multi-terabyte environments.
Strong experience in database security and implementing data governance
Scripting experience - Powershell, Unix/Linux shell scripting, Perl, or Python.
Experience with Oracle security features - TDE, Advance security, Key Vault, Database Vault, and Database Firewall
Experience with SQL Server security features - TDE, Dynamic Data Masking, row-level security.
Experience with Database activity monitoring and tools (Imperva DAM)
Experience with Data Masking and tools (Delphix)
Experience with Data Discovery technology and tools (BigID)
Strong understanding of key compliance regulations (GLBA/PCI/CCPA), financial and IT risk management and mitigation controls.
Design, compare and contrast security approaches and alternative methodologies to select the best method for meeting business objectives.
Knowledge of Imperva Database security or similar tools to look for unusual or suspicious activity, and interpret and make recommendations for resolution
Extensive Understanding of Active Directory, Data Protection tools, Identity Management, Single Sign On, network controls such as Firewalls, ACL and Proxies.
Good technical leadership and communications skills, team player, and ability to work under pressure.
