Job Description Summary

Responsible for the detailed architecture, design, development,

modification, testing, adaption, and/or implementation of short- and long-term

software solutions to business and technology initiatives that are of moderate

to high complexity levels with integrations. Reviews system requirements and

business processes; codes, tests, debugs and implements software solutions.

Works independently in a fast paced environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Advises and Leads software architecture services typically in a definedmoderate to complex project(s) by coordinating with Enterprise Architecture.

  • Provides working prototypes to confirm the feasibility of technicalsolutions

  • Reviews and develops improvements to system requirements and businessprocesses; codes, tests, debugs and implements software solutions.

  • Ensures that defined architecture is successfully implemented

  • Establishes improvements to increase efficiency

  • Develops and governs software policies, standards and procedures

  • Revises and approves test plans and scripts to ensure alignment withstandards and Technology strategy

  • Reviews and advises IT standards and procedures.



Required Experience

  • Responsible for directing the functional activities of assigned staffincluding technical design, product evaluations, and project management.

  • Provides management with direction and leadership in technical areas. Providesadvice and counsel to management concerning the application of computingtechniques to business problems.

  • Assigned area(s) of responsibility areactivities of high complexity and impact Prepares project plans includingscheduling, costs, resources, and other operational concerns.

  • 12 years of experience in IT services

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in support in Fraud technology area

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a team leader leading support teams

  • Analytical Skills: Application developer must be able to recognize theneeds of customers, and create new applications that answer those needs.

  • Communication: Application developer must be able to clearly communicatetheir ideas to coders, teammates and management.

  • Creativity: Creativity is needed to help invent new ways of approachingproblems and developing innovative applications.

  • Customer-Service: If dealing directly with clients and customers,application developers would need good customer service skills to answerquestions and fix issues.

  • Attention to Detail: Applications have many parts and all must worktogether for the application to function.

  • Problem-Solving: As issues come up, application developers need to beable to make decisions that move the project forward.

  • Teamwork: As part of a large team of developers, coders and more,application developers need to work well with others.

  • Technical Skills: Application developer must be adept in computerlanguages and have good technical -BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, fraudtechnologies, IBM WebSphere, Oracle, sql, EDW, XML, MQ, Linux, bash shellscripting, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office.

  • Provide architectural guidance to the project team

  • Render consulting and technical support services on projectimplementation to the project team

  • Explain technical issues and IT solution strategies to stakeholders andother IT professionals

  • Keep accurate record of materials used, expected deliverables, andmilestones achieved


  • You must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or inan IT related discipline. This is usually not enough as certification in aparticular IT area is also necessary


  • Computer Literacy: To be a solution architect, you have to be computersavvy and must feel comfortable working on computers for a long time. You musthave basic knowledge of computer hardware and software, operating systems, andsystem security/database management

  • Communication: The position involves collaboration with clients,reporting to the lead enterprise architect, and leading a team of solutionarchitects. So, good communication skill is paramount in this role.

  • Analytical thinking: He/she must be an analytical thinker. A solutionarchitect must be able to understand the IT need of businesses and designprograms to cater for such needs. He/she must be able to evaluate the likely effectsof such programs on the profitability of the businesses
